MEDICINE SPECIALTY

Below is a list of all the medicine specialties that a transcriptionist may comes through the
dictations. Therefore, understanding which speciality relates to which field of medicine is
important to figure out the context of the report. So please go through them for a brief review of
each speciality.


• Algology: Branch concerned with the study of pain
• Andrology: Branch concerned with the study of diseases related to the male sex
• Anesthesiology: Branch concerned with the study of pharmacological, physiological, and
clinical basis of anesthesia and related fields
• Angiology: Study of blood vessels and lymphatics
• Aphasiology: Study of speech disorders caused by dysfunction of the cerebral language areas
• Arthrology: Branch concerned with the study of joints
• Audiology: The study of hearing disorders
• Auxanology: Study of growth
• Bacteriology: Branch of science concerned with the study of bacteria
• Biology: The science concerned with the phenomena of life and living organisms
• Biotechnology: The field, which utilizes the techniques of biochemistry, cellular biology,
